Seeing a need for visual art programming during Toronto Pride week, in 2011 I started the 10X10 Photography Project. Now an annual event at the historic Gladstone Hotel, 10X10 celebrates the contributions LGBTI Canadians have made to the arts.
Each year I ask ten Canadian LGBTI photographers to each take ten portraits of queer Canadians in the arts. The 100 portraits are exhibited and a book is published to accompany the exhibition.
The 2014 photographers include (top l-r) Mikka Gia, Evergon, Alejandro Santiago, April Hickox, Micheal Chambers (bottom l-r) Mitchel Raphael, Christopher Cushman. Pascal Anrseneau, Zoe Gemelli, Marni Grossman. A complete list of past photographers can be found here.
If you would like to nominate an LGBTI Canadian for a portrait or a photographer for this project, please submit it here.
