You see that guy up there? That’s me. (give me your best surprised face)

…there you go.

Ask anyone who knows me and they’ll tell you I am really great at talking about myself, but I’m also pretty good at talk about what other people are doing too – artists, designers, smart people saying smart things… I’m often out taking photos of art openings and cultural events or live tweeting talks and panel discussions. If I’m not out, I’m in my studio painting or hanging out with my partner Rick and our dog Winnie. I’m involved in a bunch of community projects too which you probably saw when you landed here.

If you’re looking for a succinct description of me you can read my bio. It sounds more like it was written about me, rather than by me, but it’s alright. You can also see a bunch of stuff I’ve done on my CV. Dry, read-y stuff without pictures.

I try to paint as much as I can. If I go a few days without getting my hands all paint-y, I can get a little cranky and usually get banished to the studio until I can produce a painting for a post.  Like most artists, I sometimes get in the zone and forget to eat. I swear that t-shirt that says ‘I’m sorry for what I said when I was hungry’ was made for me. You can read more about what I paint here. There’s a drop down menu that sorts it all out by year, but that’s never very interesting. I can say there was a lot in 2010 and 2012. 2013 was the year that ran away. I’m back in the studio again full time and really quite happy so I hope there’s a bunch more stuff in 2014 by the time it’s over.

I’ve been doing a lot of social media work with artists and cultural organizations for the past three years so you’ll likely see some blog updates about it here and there –maybe some tips on how not to be a completely self-focused jerk on the internet.

If you want to find out how to get one of my paintings, you can email me or even check out how to request a commission for yourself  –or if you just have a question or want to leave a comment, please be my guest.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog and maybe our paths will cross in real life one day.

Health to your style!
James
